Hi my name is Hannah and I am dance and acrobatics teacher here at SJ dance Academy ormskirk. I teach modern exam work, pre pointe and pointe classes, lyrical, advanced acrobatics, private lessons and competition routines and preparation. I began dancing when I was 2 years old taking part in my first show at just 18 months, since then I have danced in many shows, competitions, dance exams, corporate events, talent shows, private party’s, TV work and many more. Some competitors include the dance World Cup in Germany where I danced 4 dances and came home with 4 medals.
As well as performing I also have a love for dance education, at the age of 18 I achieved my Allied Dancing Association associates qualification becoming a dance teacher for graded work, this is where my love for teaching began. I then went onto achieving my Acrobatic Arts teaching qualification after spending the weekend in Scotland taking part on the course. This was all during my time at college where I trained at studio 76 and Elliot Clarke performing arts college in Liverpool. After college I went onto university where I received a bachelor’s degree in dance and graduated with a 2:1. This was during Covid lockdown which meant I had to complete the majority of my final assessments on zoom, and my back garden became a dance studio!!. After my degree I decided that I wasn’t done with learning so I went back to Edge Hill University where I enrolled onto a Post Graduate Diploma of Education course. I specialised in dance and further education (post 14). After a year of assessments and placement at the popular Dynamix College in Liverpool I graduated in 2022.
I am now a full time freelanced dance and acrobatic teacher and love sharing my knowledge and creative skills with the next generation of dancers. I like to ensure my classes are a fun and save places for students to always learn something new.
I am still learning myself and taking part in as many courses and workshops I can to keep my knowledge relevant and fresh, I have recently took part in the Acrobatic Arts Aerial and Back handspring course as well as their Module 2 teacher training course.
I also own a full enhanced DBS, public liability insurance and my own first aid qualification.
